We recently had the honor of interviewing Dr. Khara Skidgel, a statewide executive leader at Region 16 Education Service Center, where she manages a budget of over $4 million and supervises a team of 24 consultants. Beyond her impressive executive leadership, Dr. Khara is also the heart and voice behind Live Big Love Bigger — a book, a movement, and a message for women reclaiming their lives one brave moment at a time.
When asked to tell us about herself, Dr. Khara described her calling this way:
“I’m a speaker, author, and design-inspired leader who believes healing is a holy process—and that it doesn’t have to be quiet. I teach women how to rebuild their lives after trauma, live with intention, and love bigger than what tried to break them.”
Her faith in Christ is the foundation of her leadership. As she put it:
“I believe in a God who meets us in the wilderness, rebuilds what was broken, and calls us worthy long before the world ever does. My healing journey is rooted in scripture, shaped by grace, and driven by a deep desire to help women know this truth: You are loved, chosen, redeemed, and called—even in the middle of the mess.”
Her testimony drives everything she teaches and writes.
“I’m a domestic abuse survivor who once whispered prayers from the floor, unsure if I’d ever rise again… But God stepped in—not with lightning bolts, but with presence. Quiet, constant, holy presence. Over time, He rebuilt my soul house—brick by brave brick. Through writing Live Big Love Bigger, I found purpose.”
Today, Dr. Khara uses her story and platform to teach women three powerful themes in her speaking:
From Breaking Point to Brave Beginning – reclaiming your voice and story after trauma.
Healing as a Design Process – rebuilding your soul house where intention meets divine design.
Living Loved, Leading Bold – stepping into your worth, your calling, and your next brave yes.
What I admire most about Dr. Khara is her conviction to lead with light. She embodies the truth that leadership is not simply about authority or budgets — it is about courage, compassion, and showing women that brokenness is never the end of their story.
✨ Please join me in celebrating Dr. Khara — a remarkable example of what it means to live whole, lead bold, and walk in God’s redeeming grace.
